Sep. 14th, 2017 09:54 pmCHARACTER: Berserker of Black
CANON: Fate/Apocrypha
VESSEL NAME & LOCATION: Kanki (駻), over the heart
VESSEL FORM: Wedding Dress
POWER: Electricity Mimicry - While in vessel form, Berserker grants her god the power to transform their body into 'living lightning.' This power is not automatic, and must be activated. The power does not grant the ability to fire bolts of lightning or control ambient sources of electricity. However, it does provide a defense against physical attacks, since anything that strikes the god will have the electricity conducted directly into it. If the god is holding or touching something made of metal, they can conduct an electrical current through it, but will be unable to transform their body in order to travel this way. The duration of the power is based on the physical endurance of the god and the spiritual power of the shinki working together, so while it has strong attack and defense capabilities, it does require some time to recharge between uses and will generally be less effective if the god or shinki is injured or exhausted when used.
GOD: Freyr
EXP POINTS: 518
CAUSE OF DEATH: Following the use of Blasted Tree in her fight with Saber of Red, she burned out the last of her mana and faded away.

Character Information
Name: She's been called many things - Frankenstein's Monster, Frankenstein, The Creature, Eve, Berserker of Black. She'll only know herself as 'Berserker' for purposes of the Far Shore.
Canon: Fate/Apocrypha
Canon Point: Post-death
Age: Though she has the appearance of a young woman, she's actually only a few years old.
History:
In life, Berserker was Frankenstein's Monster, the ill-fated and tragic creation of Dr. Victor Frankenstein. From the moment she first opened her eyes, she was met with nothing but cold disgust from the one she thought of as a father. Dr. Frankenstein rejected his creation, and in an effort to please him, she brought him the bright red viscera of a dog she had accidentally killed while wandering in the forest, thinking these things to be beautiful because they were things she did not have herself. This, of course, merely served as confirmation for the doctor that he had created a monster. He disassembled her in fear and fled for his life, wishing to leave his creation behind, but the monster put herself back together and pursued him.
Along the way, she had attempted to kidnap several men to keep as a companion for herself, that she might ease the pain of her loneliness and isolation. None of these men were able to become her family, and she was forced to confront her creator and ask him to make one like herself that she could spend her days with. If she was his Eve, she reasoned, then he had a duty to create her Adam. The request was refused, and the realization that she would spend all her days alone and hated by those around her finally drove Frankenstein fully into the depths of madness.
For the next several months, consumed with a desire to force her father to accept her, the monster pursued him across Europe, killing his friends and associates and all who stood in her way. Even the doctor's fiancee eventually became her victim. In the end Dr. Frankenstein died in the Arctic, consumed with madness, just before the monster caught up with him. Bidding her farewells, she built a funeral pyre for them both and muttered a silent prayer, acknowledging that she would truly be alone even unto death. Taking her father in her arms, she threw herself into the flames, ending her own life.
That was the end of one story, but the beginning of another.
Years later in Trifas, a city on the outskirts of the Transylvania region of Romania, a family of mages by the name of Yggdmillennia began its preparations for the Great Holy Grail War - a conflict to be fought with the use of magically summoned Servants given bodies by the Grail itself in the pursuit of a wish. Yggdmillennia came to be known as the Black Faction, set against a group of hunters from the Magic Association and their own group of Servants, known as the Red Faction.
Frankenstein was summoned by a young mage by the name of Caules Forvedge Yggmillennia, one of the weakest members of the organization who had only received the right to act as a Master by accident, having originally intended to act only as caretaker for his disabled sister. Given his youth and relative inexperience, it was decided that he would include an extra verse in his summoning incantation to ensure he would receive a Berserker class Servant - difficult to control due to their madness, but ideal for inexperienced mages incapable of summoning stronger spirits due to the inherent strength increase they receive in exchange for that same madness.
Despite her inability to communicate normally because of the Mad Enhancement clouding her thoughts, Caules made an effort to get to know his Servant and to understand her on a personal level. Reciting her story to her as he understood it, he was able to guess at her wish for the Grail: to gain a companion. However, the golems created by Caster that lived in the castle would not do. She desired a companion specifically created by her father, a man long since dead. And for that wish to come true - for a dead man to create life - she would require the Grail's power.
The first battle Berserker took part in was alongside Saber of Black, against Rider of Red and an unseen assailant far behind the battlefield sniping at them with arrows. While Saber of Black engaged their enemy, Berserker took off into the forest to try to find the sniper, who turned out to be the Red Team's Archer. With some timely assistance from Archer of Black to intercept Red Archer's shots, Berserker was able to pursue her into the forest and very nearly catch up with her. Though she took some shots to the arms and legs, her advance continued, and the fight ended in a draw as Archer of Red was forced to withdraw from the conflict.
During the time between this battle and the next, Berserker accompanied Caules as they attempted to come up with a battle plan for facing the Red Faction. In the intervening time, Saber of Black had sacrificed his own life to save that of one of their allies. She seemed displeased with the way Caules always deferred to the other members of the family and especially with his sister, considering they were all likely to become his enemies later in pursuit of the Grail. By this point, Berserker had become rather attached to her Master, genuinely wanting to keep him safe.
The next battle Berserker participated in would be her last - a grand melee taking place between almost every remaining Servant from both the Red and Black Factions at once, occurring between the Red Faction's flying fortress and the castle the Black Faction had been using as a home base. Once again spotting an opponent and following it into the woods, she came face to face with not a Servant, but rather one of the Red Faction's Masters - Shirou Kotomine, accompanied shortly thereafter by Caster of Red.
After a failed attempt at convincing Berserker to join the Red Faction to replace their own fallen Berserker, Kotomine traded blows with her, nearly overwhelmed by her tenacity and strength until he conceived of a different plan to defeat her. Ordering Caster to use his Noble Phantasm, the two drew Berserker into an illusory world in which she was shown visions of her father, sparking memories of her troubled past. The Dr. Frankenstein she was confronted with this time, however, had nothing but calm praise and happy smiles for her.
It almost worked, but at the last moment she activated her Mad Enhancement and broke through the illusion in a wild rage, shattering the wooden puppet that Caster had summoned and given the appearance of her father. He had spoken the words she had longed to hear, but at the moment when she least wanted to hear them. Kotomine and Caster of Red had used the opportunity to escape while she had been trapped in the illusion, and Caules appeared afterward, forced to spend a Command Spell to calm her down in the aftermath.
Later in the same battle, Berserker came to Rider of Black's aid against Saber of Red, enhanced by the use of a second Command Spell by her Master. In the exchange of blows that followed, Berserker's arm was severed by Saber's counterattack, but she remained standing all the same. Disregarded by Saber, she was able to set up a counterattack, planting her Bridal Chest into the ground and leaping into the air to pin Saber to the ground.
Activating her Blasted Tree in a suicide move and assisted by Caules' last Command Spell, her lightning was unleashed and amplified to a truly terrifying degree, streaking across the battlefield and severely injuring Red Saber. It would have vaporized her entirely if not for her own Master using one of his Command Spells to order her to dodge the attack. But of course, the result for Berserker was the same - a suicide attack is a suicide attack, after all, and her body lay still and lifeless there on the battlefield.
Personality:
Due to the tragic circumstances of her life and the difficulty with expression imposed upon her by being summoned into the Berserker class, Frankenstein is generally quiet and slow to respond to any sort of attempt at interpersonal communication. Even without that as a hindrance, however, she's not that good at expressing herself. She has a strong complex about her monstrous nature, believing that others will never be able to accept her and that she is destined to live a lonely life. Outside of combat, she's very good at masking what emotion she's feeling, but she's never quite gotten the hang of hiding the feeling of sorrow.
Sadly, as an extension of this, Frankenstein's first reaction to meeting someone new is suspicion and caution. Aside from her Master, she's never had a reason to trust anyone or believe that they will view her as anything other than an aberration of nature. The one who should have loved and guided her turned her away almost immediately, and she was never able to find a companion of her own, let alone a friend. She is often caught between the instinct to distance herself from others to save herself the pain of rejection, and the desire to approach out of a desperate hope that she may find someone who will be able to accept her.
It is possible for Frankenstein to form a close bond with someone who honestly takes the time to try to talk to her and understand her thoughts and feelings. Her Master, Caules, made such attempts, and as a result she defended him all the more loyally when the time came. If she decides to place her trust in someone, she gives it over completely, following and respecting their words and advice without question. By the same token, if she finds her trust betrayed she is also capable of terrible emotional extremes in the other direction, and won't think twice about seeking to exact vengeance.
With anyone who accepts her unconditionally, Frankenstein is surprisingly eager to please, and will seek to be viewed favorably in the eyes of whoever she's dealing with at the time. She has no small amount of pride in cases like this, wanting to show how effective and useful she can be in whatever way seems appropriate. This often simply translates to efficient execution of orders in combat, but also extends to smaller actions, such as turning off unused lights and electronics in a friend's house to conserve power. She is very mindful of this in general, as a being powered by the alchemical conversion of electricity into life energy.
Frankenstein's ultimate goal as a being given life again by the power of the Grail is to revive her father and force him to create a companion for her to ease the pain of her loneliness. As if this isn't complicated enough, she has a rather nasty daddy complex going with regards to Victor Frankenstein. She both adores him and hates him, wanting nothing more than for him to pat her on the head and praise her but at the same time desiring to tear him to shreds for granting her such a cursed existence. It's generally best not to bring him up at all, since her mood can shift dramatically in reaction to his name.
Abilities:
Servant: Frankenstein is a Servant summoned to fight in the Great Holy Grail War of Fate/Apocrypha. This means her 'body' is actually composed of spiritual energy reconstituted into physical form. She requires a supply of mana, or magical energy, in order to manifest physically - otherwise she must conserve her power by largely remaining in spiritual form, in which she is invisible and intangible to all except those with the ability to sense and affect such things. Because of the nature of her body, Berserker will also die if she runs out of mana, just as she would by succumbing to extreme physical damage. Though Frankenstein can provide for her own mana needs through the use of one of her other powers, she can also form a contract with a Master, linking their mana supplies together. This grants the Master the ability to command Berserker in combat, along with three Command Spells that can be used to force her to comply with an order. Using up all the Command Spells does not break the contract, but it does ensure the Master will be unable to control her when it counts. For purposes of the Far Shore, the god who names her will also receive the three Command Spells - though as a shinki, Berserker will obviously not possess the knowledge to explain them or how they work.
Mad Enhancement: As a Berserker class Servant, Frankenstein has access to this skill, albeit at a rather low rank for the class. She can activate it to increase her physical strength, speed, and resilience at the cost of flying into a berserk fury, unable to discern friend from foe and attacking everything in the area until there is nothing left to fight or until ordered to return by her Master. Possession of this ability also robs Frankenstein of some of her reason - at the low rank she has it, she is still able to think clearly when the skill is not active, but she has lost the ability to communicate verbally with anything but low moaning sounds.
Scream of the False Lifeform: Frankenstein is capable of emitting an immense scream, temporarily robbing enemies and allies alike of their ability to think and respond; those who do not expect it or are incapable of the mental resilience to withstand it may temporarily lose their ability to breathe. The effectiveness of the skill is increased with the activation of Mad Enhancement.
Galvanism: Unrestricted conversion and accumulation of prana and bio-electric energy. Thaumaturgical attacks involving no material existence - wind manipulation, energy bullets, beam attacks - are converted to electricity and rendered without effect, discharged into the environment. Absorbed electricity may be used to implement rapid self-repair and physical attribute reinforcement.
Blasted Tree: This power is the use of the Bridal Chest in a suicide move. The fin of the mace is planted into the ground, and the reactor's limiters are completely released, discharging all gathered electricity into the surrounding environment as an area effect attack with homing, momentarily giving the Noble Phantasm the silhouette of a towering tree. May be implemented from the Servant's own body rather than the Bridal Chest if the enemy force is a single opponent within short range. Use of this technique results in permanent deactivation, but there is a low probability that a second Frankenstein's Monster will be materialized in the wake of the attack. However, in death, it would be impossible for the Servant to witness the results of her actions. Obviously, this ability will be either sealed for play in the Far Shore or will necessitate a drop of the character if she uses it, considering it will kill her to do so.
Bridal Chest: A large mace carried by Frankenstein and used as a striking weapon, which gives off discharges of electricity with the appearance of tree branches. In reality, the Servant's reactor core / heart is contained within the large spherical bulb, and the fin on the opposite end remotely transfers energy to the Servant's body. With high efficiency, the implement continuously gathers energy wasted by the Servant or present in her surroundings, and is constantly manifested outside of combat to power her.
Strengths: Loyal, driven, empathetic, intelligent, protective
Weaknesses: Temperamental, unpredictable, vengeful, lonely, awkward
God/Shinki: Shinki
Why?: She's much more well-suited to the role of shinki, having already acted as a Servant in her home universe. Her innate madness would make it difficult for her to act as a goddess.
Cause Of Death: Following the use of Blasted Tree in her fight with Saber of Red, she burned out the last of her mana and faded away.
Vessel: A wedding dress
Name Location: Chest, over the heart
Power: Electricity Mimicry

In Character Information
Name: Berserker of Black, Frankenstein's Monster, Frankenstein, The Creature, Eve
Series: Fate/Apocrypha
Canon Standing: After sacrificing herself with Bridal Tree in an attempt to kill Red Saber.
Age: Appears to be a teenage girl. In actuality, since she's composed of reanimated tissue, she's only a few years old. Her spirit is even older since she was summoned from the Grail.
Birthday & Astrology Sign: November 11th, Scorpio
Arcana: Death
The one who should have loved and guided her turned her away almost immediately, and she was never able to find a companion of her own - let alone a friend - so she tries to distance herself from others as much as she can. This as much to protect the other party from herself as it is to save herself from the pain of being rejected, as she possesses a keen sense of empathy despite her cursed origins.
Backstory:
Frankenstein was summoned by a young mage by the name of Caules Forvedge Yggmillennia, one of the weakest members of the organization who had only received the right to act as a Master through exploitation of a number of loopholes in the hierarchy of the group. Given his youth and relative inexperience, he decided to include an extra verse in his summoning incantation to ensure he would receive a Berserker class Servant - difficult to control due to their madness, but ideal for inexperienced mages incapable of summoning stronger spirits due to the inherent strength increase they receive in exchange for that same madness.
Canon Powers:
Servant: Frankenstein is a Servant summoned to fight in the Great Holy Grail War of Fate/Apocrypha. This means her 'body' is actually composed of spiritual energy reconstituted into physical form. She requires a supply of mana, or magical energy, in order to manifest physically - otherwise she must conserve her power by remaining in spiritual form, in which she is invisible and intangible to all except those with the ability to sense and affect such things. Once all three Command Spells have been used, however, the contract is broken.
Mad Enhancement (Mind): As a Berserker class Servant, Frankenstein has access to this skill, albeit at a rather low rank for the class. She can activate it to raise all of her physical stats by one rank (Attack, Defense, and Agility up 25% in Destiny Strings game terms) at the cost of flying into a berserk fury, unable to discern friend from foe and attacking everything in the area until there is nothing left to fight or until ordered to return by her Master. Possession of this ability also robs Frankenstein of some of her reason - at the low rank she has it, she is still able to think clearly when the skill is not active, but she has lost the ability to communicate verbally with anything but low moaning sounds.
Scream of the False Lifeform (Scream of Terror) (Mind): Frankenstein is capable of emitting an immense scream, temporarily robbing enemies and allies alike of their ability to think and respond; those who do not expect it or are incapable of the mental resilience to withstand it may temporarily lose their ability to breathe. The effectiveness of the skill is increased with the activation of Mad Enhancement.
Galvanism (Lightning): Unrestricted conversion and accumulation of prana and bio-electric energy. Thaumaturgical attacks involving no material existence - wind manipulation, energy bullets, beam attacks - are converted to electricity and rendered without effect, discharged into the environment. Absorbed electricity may be used to implement rapid self-repair and physical attribute reinforcement. In game terms, this means that Frankenstein is considered to have a passive Absorb affinity for non-Persona energy-based attacks. This skill does not apply to attacks classified under Mind, Physical, Light, Dark, or Almighty, which all affect her as normal. And per her Persona, she is weak to Fire and Ice, which override the natural immunities granted by this skill.
Blasted Tree (Lightning): This power is the use of the Bridal Chest in a suicide move. Obviously, this ability will be either sealed for play in Strings or will necessitate a drop of the character if she uses it, considering it will kill her to do so.
Canon Weapons|Items:
Bridal Chest (Physical/Lightning): A large mace carried by Frankenstein and used as a striking weapon, which gives off discharges of electricity with the appearance of tree branches. If exposed to a high prana environment such as the midst of combat, the function of Galvanism and the Bridal Chest combine to qualify these powers as a Type II Perpetual Motion Engine.

"Uuuuuuu..."
Berserker let out a low groan as she reached for a flower, intent on her mindless and repetitive task. She'd been sitting alone in the Capricorn District for hours, watching the setting sun and idly plucking the petals from the flowers and scattering them on the breeze. So fragile, so beautiful - she'd always been fascinated by flowers, since they represented what she was not, and everything she could never be.
Mixed up inside just like the rest of her conflicting emotions, she was always possessed of an equal desire to preserve and destroy these tiny silent lives. Tonight had been a night of quiet brooding, so this time the little plants weren't so lucky. She was in better spirits the day before, the crown of blossoms she'd woven and placed in her room serving as a testament to that.
But tonight, she once again felt the familiar sting of sorrow and loneliness. Not the uncontrollable rage boiling up in her artificial body, but the aching emptiness she felt when she thought of the home she could never have, and the father who would never love her. Growling in frustration, she crushed the flower in her hand, grinding it into dust and hurling its remains into the air.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
The girl would have been content to sit and mourn, choking on tears that could never flow from her defective body, but the demons of the 13th Hour had different plans as the sky shifted its color to blood red. Berserker had lingered here too long, and her cry of anguish was met with the howls of numerous hungry monsters.
There was only one thing for it. Letting out a loud snort as she reached for her mace, Berserker lifted herself to her feet, hefting the giant weapon in her hands as she looked around for her prey. The demons of Hinoto-Ri would regret interrupting her solitude. She would make them all pay for thinking her such an easy mark.
The pile of petals at her feet scattered in every direction as the one called monster howled back, her prana bursting forth as she took off in search of her quarry. Maybe working off her frustration with a bit of violence wasn't such a bad idea after all.
